Uh... 1 and 1/3 year

When I met Eithne -> Wah, she looks like she has an attitude problem. And the sponge Elfdoll packed her in is hilarious =p

Nope. One day I shall!

Not really. I have 0 confidence in my art sense and handicraft skills.

11. Between BJD and custom-made dolls, which do you think are the good points of each type?
BJD = versatile and not as fragile as custom made dolls
Custom = uniquely yours

12. Have you given your dolls a particular personality, etc? What is it?
Eithne is independant, confident, quite cold and does not care about others, She can be really sweet to the few she trusts, though she's resistant to shed her armored shell. She dislikes humans as a whole.
Lothar works hard and plays hard. Although he's naughty, he still exudes certain naivety. Yes, and he loves fish...

13. What relationship do you share with your dolls? (ie children, siblings, etc)
Something like a guardian I guess? They left their homes for some reason or other and ended up here in my care.

15. Conversely, is there any kind of way of referring to them or way of handling them that you would prefer not to do?
I'm fine so long as it's not insulting or rough handling.

On the living room sofa, my bed or their beds.

Uh... only if my tiny comes. I've gotten 2 chairs for that size already X_x

Handphone, Nintendo DS, books, tea set, instant noodles, packet milk, bowls, cooking utensils, soft toys, bedroom slippers, necklace, bags, hair clips, tiara, lacy umbrella, cap, guns

19. Is there anything else that you're planning to buy just for your dolls?
It's mainly clothes now. I want a metal round table (the ornate garden type) and matching chairs if there are any. I get other accessories as and when I see and like them.

20. What was the most expensive thing you've ever bought for your dolls?
I guess it's the Violetfern cremo coyle outfit.

21. When you go out, do you take your dolls with you?
Sometimes.

22. Is there any particular place that you've taken your dolls to?
Besides the malls and botanic gardens in Singapore, it's China and Hong Kong.

23. Is there anywhere nearby that you think you'd like to take your dolls to?
Er... nowhere in particular.

24. When you take your dolls out, how do you take them? (ie doll carrying case, violin case, etc)
Just put them in whatever big bag that can take them.

25. When you're taking your dolls out with you, is there anything in particular that you are extra careful about?
Crossing the MRT gantry. I couldn't get through the gate with the big bag the first couple of times I tried to take the train with them.

26. Do your dolls have friends? Do you think your dolls would like to have friends?
I guess they have. Eithne keeps to herself more, but I think she's better able to communicate with Cian on arcane stuff. Lothar is just bully-able so I think he does and can make more friends.

27. Do you want a boy doll (or more boy dolls)?
Hmm... I dunno really. I want a tiny, but not set on the gender.

I don't think so. (Sheez, so boring eh?)

Never heard of. And I don't find anything special about Alice in Wonderland.

31. What colour is your doll's hair?
Eithne: Cream, blonde or silvery.. I dunno how to describe... But now she's wearing blonde and purple.
Lothar: White or blonde.

32. Is there a particular reason that made you chose that colour?
Eithne: I like that colour on her
Lothar: Blonde as he's german. White since I like the white kitty wig he came with.

33. Do you like to braid, style, put clips in, or otherwise change your doll's hair often?
I don't style their hair, but I do change them now and then.

34. Do you change their hair (wig) from day to day? And just how many wigs do you own?
I change them infrequently. Lothar has 2 wigs I would use and 1 I couldn't stand. Eithne uses 3, though she has a total of 7 wigs (the 4 I don't use couldn't fit her nicely, and I refuse to use velcro).
So... 10 and 2 on the way if there's stock as well as a planned one that I haven't bought.

35. How many pairs of shoes do you have? Do your dolls like to wear socks?
This is so cruel... making me count them....
Eithne: Sneakers, bedroom slippers, plain maryjane, 2 white boots, missing pink maryjane, missing black maryjane, pink boots, lacy black maryjane, brown boots... I *think* that's all.
Lothar: Default white boots, romance of venice black boots, joker shoes, black shoes, black low boots, black high boots.
Total... 16...

They have socks that come with their outfits, but I'm usually lazy to let them wear socks.

36. About how many doll clothing sets do you own?

Happy New Year! (1 day late XD) We finally managed to get the Shogatsu photoshoot done in time for new year. It was very tiring but extremely satisfying and kind of fun. The actual shoot is on Zes' page here. This entry contains some behind-the-scene and work-in-progress pictures for the Shogatsu shoot! Well... mainly for my side since I didn't take the clothes' WIP pictures.

Eithne’s Soliloquy

When can I escape from this insane age? When can I shed these pretenses and be myself? I can wait no longer! I am fully aware that from the day I renounced the Christian faith, years ago when I was allowed to “choose”, nobody looked at me the same way again. Of course, I was never looked upon as a normal child from as long as I can remember. The first words I spoke were of my lord’s language, and no one has forgotten about it.

All these years my father has kept me safe, but the baseless linking of our society’s problems with sorcery, alchemy and everything out of the ordinary has placed immense pressure on him. It is my turn to show my love for him and the rest of my family. Tonight, I shall bask in the comfort of their bosoms, but tomorrow, I shall let my father know of my plans. Together, we shall execute this last act, and may we be finally released from this vicious fate.

Backstory - Part I

I've finally paused my procrastinating and started on Eithne's backstory. Expect ALOT of words and very few (if not no) pictures. Her story is set with the darkest period of Christianity as backdrop, so do NOT read on if you think you would be offended. It's written in modern day (well, more or less) language to save myself of dying from the phrasing XD

An excerpt from a dairy found deep within the catacombs of a castle in Germany:

“Dec 5, 1484.

Today a papal bull was issued to root out witchcraft in Germany. From the day my little angel was born, I had feared that this day would come. There is only so much a father can do to protect his child. I have kept her from public view, guarded her secret jealously, and flaunted the powers of my position – all to keep her safe.

She is perfect in every way, except that she disdains our beliefs. I am, however, not surprised. Even if her powers were bestowed by our Lord, the Church would still trial and convict her of sorcery.

I fear what the zealots may do – they who feel no qualms over laying waste villages and cities in their delirium. Already I can see the senseless carnage and endless nightmare.”

Fear my moving lunatic!

Just a random post, no pictures this time. However, I am considering working on Eithne's story. But even then, there would most likely not be too many photos since I would require way too much props. (Hint: How would you re-create a scene during the Inquisition? T_T) So... fear the words /gg (Let the grammar nazi part of me surface while writing the story please :p)

Anyway, next post would probably be the start of the story. Till then.

Phew, today kind of tires me although we didn't do that much walking at the meet. I've been buying lots of things for Eithne lately. Teddy bear jacket, doggy, little bunny doll, bunny bedroom slippers, sneakers, baby mattress and pillow... Just today, I've bought a T-shirt for her. And although the 2 big bags are technically for me, the purpose is for bringing Eithne around...

Citrus: Phew, I'm bushed...
Eithne: It's ok for me. Just happy to be back with Sugar.
Citrus: Oh, let's try on that new shirt.

Citrus: Hey, not bad. It fits you nicely. ^_^

And so it came to pass... the wait ended :p

I had some jostling with Fraud over who to open the package, and I apparently won. See zenith_crimson's entry for what I mean /gg

The package. There's no cute fragile picture though.

2 lovely wigs. I ordered without face-up and used the money saved to buy them. Eithne looks like a princess in the curly wig, but that wig wouldn't stay on if I don't put velcro T_T The straight wig is lovely too and it brings out her attitude.

This is the underwear and slip. Pretty nice material, though the panty was really tight to put on. The bra looks good on Eithne too, but due to the pattern on it, it looks like it'll be very obvious if it's worn beneath other clothes.

Optional hands! These are beauties, and I think they look better than the standard hands.

These are the free gifts that came in the package. I had thought that Eithne would have to stay in her nighties for a long time, but thanks to this, she has something for outdoor wear. The spectacles are unexpected too, as I placed the order just a few days after elfdoll ended the promotion of free spectacles with Sooah purchase. ^_^

Finally a picture of Eithne! No face-up yet though. Go zes go! :p

Missed Date...

She came today, but my whole family is out... so the poor girl has to stay at the post office in Paya Lebar another 1+ day since I can't possibly travel all the way there and make my way back with such a huge package.

So it'll be Wednesday since my mum would be home in the morning. I wish I didn't have to go on course on Wednesday, then I could accept her myself. Still, it's good that my mum agreed to help me sign for her. Talking about re-delivery, their automated phone system seems to have voice recognition since you have to say things like "morning" or "afternoon".

Ah~ the anticipation drives me crazy! *Listens to castlevania music taken from zenith_crimson*

What's In A Name?

She's almost here, and I grow restless over her name. What if she doesn't fit my first choice for her name?

I plan to call her Eithne. What's in this name? It comes from the mythical Eithne, who rules over beauty, fertility and reincarnation, from Celtic lore. Many legendary queens and eight saints had a form of this name, which actually means "seed" or "kernel". An alternative meaning would be "little fire".

My wish for her is for her to develop a strong character and do great things. Like the seed which contains a towering tree within it, and the little spark of fire from which a mighty blaze can sprout.

Little Eithne, may this name speak out to me when I set my eyes on you.
